It is a stout grayish-colored animal with dark markings, a narrow and pointed head, it can measure up to 4 or 5 meters long and weigh more than 990 pounds. They feed on any vertebrates including birds and large mammals, they are predators that await any careless prey that comes to drink water even from drowned animals floating in the river.
